《新概念英语》的精华

　　新概念英语确实是一套很好的英语学习教程，它融听说读写与一体，一个优秀的英语老师完全可以利用它培养出优秀的学生。但现在很多人盲目地学习这个教程。我曾经告诉过一个培训老师说我让高一的孩子学新概念第二册，他显示出非常鄙夷的神色，说现在小学的孩子都学习新概念二了。当然仁者见仁智者见智，不同的群体可以从里面吸收到不同的营养。笔者从1992年毕业以来一直带着我的学生学习新概念英语，常常根据不同学生的不同情况，给他们制定相应的新概念学习计划，在课堂上讲授新概念学习方法，然后课外以相应的学习内容代替传统的作业和练习甚至是试题，最终让高三毕业的学生差不多学习完新概念第三册。

　　记得2000年在浙江平阳县浙鳌高中带的那届高三学生，两个班最后高考平均分超过100，比浙江省全省高考英语均分高出10多分，和县一中的均分持平，创造了该校建校来的高考英语最好成绩。成功的背后只有一个秘诀，就是我的学生学习了新概念英语二册和三册。

　　现在以新概念二第49课为例，看看其中的精华所在。

　　Lesson49 The end of a dream 美梦告终Tired of sleeping on the floor, a young man in Teheran saved up for years to buy a real bed. For the first time in his life, he became the proud owner of a bed which had springs and a mattress. Because the weather was very hot, he carried the bed on to the roof of his house. He slept very well for the first two nights, but on the third night, a storm blew up. A gust of wind swept the bed off the roof and sent it crashing into the courtyard below. The young man did not wake up until the bed had struck the ground. Although the bed was smashed to pieces, the man was miraculously unhurt. When he woke up, he was still on the mattress. Glancing at the bits of wood and metal that lay around him, the man sadly picked up the mattress and carried it into his house. After he  had put it on the floor, he promptly went to sleep again.

　　新概念比较重要的一部分就是Summary Writing。它是培养学生写作能力最好的手段。
