Suddenly, Jim went ahead of Tim. The students cheered for him. Soon, it was clear that Jim was going to win. But, when they were just a few meters away from the finishing line, Tim surprisingly speeded and ran ahead of Jim and reached the finishing line first. Tim surprised everyone. He proudly received the trophy and the prize money. 

突然，吉姆走在蒂姆前面。学生们为他欢呼。很快，很明显吉姆会赢。但是，当他们离终点线只有几米远的时候，蒂姆出人意料地加快了速度，跑在吉姆的前面，第一个到达终点线。蒂姆让所有人都感到惊讶。他骄傲地获得了奖杯和奖金。

Jim’s mother came up to Tim and praised him for his hard work. She smiled and said,“Your hard work finally paid off!” “Thanks, Miss!” Tim replied with a big smile and walked happily away with his trophy. Jim hung his head in shame and almost cried. His mother turned to him and said, “Look Jim, talent without hard work is simply useless. That boy worked very hard and finally was successful. Hard work is the only way to success!” Now, Jim understood the importance of hard work. This event brought about a big change in his life.

吉姆的母亲走到蒂姆跟前，表扬他的努力。她笑着说：“你的努力终于有了回报！”“谢谢，女士！”蒂姆笑着回答，然后高高兴兴地拿着奖杯走开了。吉姆羞愧地低下头，几乎哭了。他的母亲转过身对他说：“看，吉姆，没有努力的天赋是毫无用处的。那个男孩很努力，最后终于成功了。努力是成功的唯一途径！”现在，吉姆明白了努力的重要性。这件事给他的生活带来了很大的变化。
